Establishing a community group can be as easy as gathering under the tree and vote people into posimtions. But when it come to pushing a mission that leaves lasting impact on the community, that's a different ball-game. An organization is derived from the word organize which according to merriam-webster.com, "to form into a coherent unity or functioning whole"; so an organization has to be a an organized group of people. As highlited in Sonyce Media's RUNNING PROFITABLE ORGANIZATINS training programme, "Group of people moving towards one vision; with defined structure, culture and systems" (referenced in the programme learner guide, version 1, 2017), there are elements which rule a group organized. Those elements includes, but not limited to:

• Vision
• Organizational Goal
• Mission
• Structures

A non-profit organization is a form of business, and should be designed the same a profit making business, with clear focus on what needs to be achieved. When it is well designed and developed, the organization can serve the community well, become a brand, and attract opportunities such as donors. When it reaches that state, I consider the organization to be profitable - it serves its purpose and generate income to take care of the members.
